Kröv - Mosel for bons vivants

        Kröv

At the heart of the most winding section of the Moselle River, surrounded by vine-covered slopes, is the friendly winegrowing village of Kröv.

The ancient Romans were already taken with this beautiful little patch of earth, and they brought with them the art of winegrowing, which continues to characterise the locality and landscape to the present day.

Evidence of this century-old winegrowing culture, the old wine estates, monastery yards, half-timbered houses and the numerous findings from Roman times are still omnipresent today.

Kröv is an important winegrowing community. The locality has made a name for itself well beyond Germany’s borders with the famous Kröver wine “Kröver Nacktarsch”.

Not only does Kröv have excellent wines, it also has a heap of other attractions on offer. For years, the winegrowing village of Kröv has been one of the most popular tourist destinations on the Moselle. One can still experience true Moselle character here, as the village has preserved its authenticity, shaped by winegrowing.

Apart from the picturesque village centre and charming Moselle Promenade, Kröv also has a wide variety of local gastronomy, hotels, pensions and numerous private rooms right at the wineries. And in the evening, seasonal inns and traditional wine taverns invite visitors to stroll through the cellars with delicious wines.
A well-developed hiking and bike-riding network, a leisure centre with heated outdoor pool, giant slides and children’s area, an extensive programme for excursions by bus and ship, as well as interesting weekly events including walks along the educational wine path, wine tastings, canoe rides and Nordic Walking ensure an action-packed holiday. Its central location (in the heart of the Moselle Region) means Kröv is also an ideal starting point for daytrips into the surrounding area, such as Trier, Coblence, the Hunsrück or the Eifelmaare.

A wide variety of events is, of course, also on offer. The highlights of the annual events calendar include the Culinary Spring Weekends (Ascension), the International Midnight Run (Saturday before Whitsunday), the International Folklore Festival of the Moselle (1st weekend in July), and the St. Remigius Wine Fair (1st weekend in October). From the end of August to the end of October, a wine festival is celebrated every weekend in the Kröver Weinbrunnenhalle (Wine Hall).
